Thomas Dausgaard’s recording of Nielsen: Symphonies Nos. 1 & 2 (Seattle Symphony Media) is nominated for the 2021 Orchestral Gramophone Award. The prestigious award will be announced on 5 October during an online ceremony presented by Gramophone Editor-in-Chief James Jolly and pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason. The ceremony will be livestreamed on Medici TV and Gramophone’s social media channels.

Andrew Mellow writes in his review, “Nielsen’s early symphonies aren’t just well-kept secrets; they are essential listening for anyone serious about understanding the composer’s place in 20th-century music. …the whoops and cheers you hear at the end of this live performance from Seattle aren’t rooted in musicological analysis. They are startled, delighted reactions to the sense of energy, rupture and chaos that punch out of the music.”
