Released to mark the anniversary of the 1897 Stockholm Exhibition, these works are truly monumental in scale, written by a composer whose severe self-criticism resulted in him writing very little. There are some stunningly written choral sections with a near Shostakovichian sense of drama in the Exhibition Cantata – which is seldom heard and played.
