How can a symphony written by a highly profiled composer in her time go under the radar for over a 100 years?
Thomas Dausgaard posed this question when he first heard about Nancy Dalberg’s Symphony in C# Minor (1917). The question became the starting point for a collaboration between Dausgaard, Copenhagen Phil, Edition S and the label Dacapo to perform and record orchestral works by forgotten Danish female composers from the past.
Today their World Premiere recording of Dalberg’s Symphony is released. It is from the first complete performance since Carl Nielsen conducted its Premiere in 1917. Dausgaard:
