Thomas Dausgaard has been lauded by critics for his two dates with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at this year’s BBC Proms.

Tim Ashley of The Guardian writes in his four-star review: “Both performances were superbly judged: Dausgaard’s Rite, controlled yet violent, and played with an at times almost queasy sensuality, can only be described as outstanding.”

Michael Church of The Independent gave a five-star review, writing: “One seldom sees an audience erupt with such spontaneous delight”.

And Anna Picard, writing in her four-star review for The Times, writes of the concert: “In the second of two Proms performances with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the ensemble’s incoming chief conductor Thomas Dausgaard animated both with delicate articulation and a buoyant bass line.”
