The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra performed Britten, Brahms and Mendelssohn under the baton of Thomas Dausgaard together with the soloist Nikolaj Znaider at the “Great Hall” (Großer Saal). First emotional encore (adagio “Nimrod” from Elgar’s “Enigma” Variations) and Dausgaard’s idea to end the concert with a “cèilidh” (a traditional Scottish dance) made even the “conservative Musikverein audience give the performers a standing ovation.”
